THE DETAILS THAT MATTER
GSM, fabric blends and tear-out labels explained
Product specifications help you compare blanks. Here is how to use three common details without asking them to tell you more than they can.
GSM means fabric weight
GSM is grams per square metre of fabric. It helps compare weight, but it is not a complete measure of quality or fit. Knit, finish, cut and construction affect how a garment looks and feels.
Composition can vary by colour
Heather, marl and contrast versions may use a different fibre mix from the main style. Check the chosen colour specification and any asterisk in the supplier description. Use the selected fabric when planning your decoration process.
Tear-out is a label feature
A tear-out label describes a removable label feature specified by the supplier. It does not mean every label is removable or that no information needs to stay on the product. Review the full garment and any care or fibre information before relabelling.
Use the size guide carefully
Supplier size guides may describe the body the garment is designed to fit, or actual garment measurements. These are different. Check which measurements are supplied and sample your core sizes if fit is central to your project.
